Lee Horobin - Experience & Projects

Throughout the past 10 years of his career, Lee has have worked at Senior Finance Executive / Financial Controller levels, being responsible for the full finance function of organisations.

During his career, Lee has been responsible for the development of many financial models of varying complexity. Some features of this financial modelling work include:

  • Board level reports that are quickly and easily created due to my skills and techniques. It is obviously crucial that presentation and accuracy are paramount in such documents, and I’ve been able to produce reports to outstanding levels quickly, simply, and accurately every time.
  • Tools & techniques to deal with the problem of exported data from accounting systems not being in a usable form / having formatting issues.
  • Writing formulae or macros to covert unusable data into usable data.
  • Maintaining a complete audit trail from financial system output to finished product.
  • Management reports with built-in forecasting features used to project end-of period performance using the manipulation of key variables to simulate various scenarios. The reports were developed using data straight from the company information system without the need for data entry.
  • Development of automated sales & performance reports which have been introduced to business units in the Asia-Pacific region for a global corporate. Features of these reports were:
  • The user was able to quickly and easily able to determine revenues, margins by any combination of: individual customer, individual product, customer group, product group.
  • Consolidated data was produced to show the performance of the entire sales force, with a simple drop-down facility to change the period (including comparisons to budget) being assessed.
  • A copyrighted, automated lease deal analysis tool for the commercial property sector. This tool reduced a 3 hour long task to half an hour.
  • An electronic diary used to alert the user to when routine maintenance & inspection work was due for various facilities in commercial buildings. Various coloured alerts would greet the user upon opening the tool, denoting the urgency of each job. Spreadsheets don’t have to be for financial applications.
  • An automated inventory ordering tool whereby the user was able to select quantities of products, and by hitting a button, the order would be created, detailing for each SKU, the number of items, number of pallets, and weight of the order. This was also totalled for the entire order.
  • Many automated tools to enable users to easily work with calculations for such things as:
  • fringe benefits tax (FBT)
  • credit card expenses
  • loan schedules
  • cash flow forecasting
  • prepayments calculators
  • construction project management
  • tools to provide calculations to support accounting standard-compliant schedules.
  • Features of financial models I build & the service I provide:
  • They are perfectly user-friendly such that non-Excel users can use them with complete confidence.
  • If a piece of data has to be entered into a model, it is only ever entered once, if at all!
  • Automation. The use of buttons and other format controls to make navigation, option selection and data manipulation easy, and in some cases, fun!
  • Detailed usage instructions and training are provided.
  • All work saves the client time and money as the amount of data entry is minimised or eliminated, and as many tasks as possible are automated and controlled by the click of a button, rather than repeated manual steps.
  • Email support is provided for free for as long as the tool is in use, the only condition being that the client does not alter the tool in any way. Responses will occur within 2 business days of receivng your query.
